On January 26th we were visited by a committee of professionals to see if GCMS was worthy of winning a second Horizon Schools to Watch Award. This is an award that only a select few schools receive across the nation. Today the students and staff of GCMS Middle School should be very proud, because once again we have proven to be an outstanding school and a Horizon Award Winner. Our school will be recognized in Washington D.C. and on a national website as one of the best in the State, and in the Country! This award proves what GCMS stands for with its high expectations and community wide sense of pride. Each and every person associated with GCMS schools should recognize that they are a part of this award because it goes far beyond the walls of the middle school. A very special thank you goes out to GCMS administration, staff, parents, school board members, and students for being the 2010 Horizon School to Watch Award recipients! Announcements: Parent Night – February 26th ISAT Tests – March 1st - 12th Senior Citizens Coffee – Thursday, March 18thSpring Break – March 22nd – 26thISAT: As most of you know the first two weeks of March mark the time for ISAT standardized tests. These tests are very important in measuring our schools successes and growth. I would like to ask for each and every student and parents help in preparing for these weeks ahead. Making sure that students are rested and eating proper meals can give them a great advantage in test taking and production. Please encourage your students to get to bed early, and eat a proper breakfast before the test days. At the school we are working hard to create the most positive and supportive test environment possible, and we know that once again the students at GCMS will shine in these tests. Best of luck to us all! Be sure to browse our website to see the many activities and events that will take place throughout the spring. Thanks to Mr. Walker Willis and Don Worthington for the continuous updates and accuracy of our website! Lets finish out a great school year. Go Falcons!!!!!! Sincerely, Jeremy Darnell GCMS Middle School Principal
