Funky Words started at the beginning of the 2005-2006 school year.  It began as a joke and has since ballooned into something that has become almost uncontrollable.

There are certain guidelines and rules that apply to the creation of funky words.

For a word to be considered Funky, it must be:
1.  Not really a word
2.  Used in the wrong context
3.  Be funny

Examples of how a funky word is created:

1.  Denim
Teacher asks the student what was the cash crop of Virginia in the 1700s.  The student answers denim.  The correct                 answer is  tobacco.

2.  Goober
The student states that the person that we were discussing is "goober smart."  The word that the student was trying to say is ubber.

3.  Computered
When given a writing assignment, the student asked if it needed to be computered.  What he meant to say was typed.

You will notice that some of the words are really in fact words.  Make sure to take notice of rule 2 above.

The other thing that you might notice is that I myself am not immune to the occasional funky word.  On the other hand, occasional might not be the appropriate word either.
